TV Foundation Trustees

The TV Foundation is looking for new trustees to join its board

Application deadline: Friday 20th March 2020

The TV Foundation launched as the new face of the Edinburgh Television Festival Council in 2019. The charity was established in 2001 to further build on the work of its educational programmes which have been running since 1990. Its charitable objects include the aim “to promote and encourage the understanding and knowledge of TV and related media and cultural aspects thereof at all levels of the community.”

The majority of The TV Foundation’s current work lies in its recurring annual residential schemes which take place alongside the Edinburgh Television Festival every August.

One of The TV Foundation’s new purposes will be to identify new areas it can support to increase fairness and equality in the TV sector. The New Voice Awards to recognise undiscovered talent are now in their third year. The TV Foundation has already partnered with the Living Wage Foundation to promote the Real Living Wage in the TV industry, with the Arts & Humanities Research Council on AHTV and TV PhD and is seeking further organisations to support to further its aims.

For this appointment we are specifically looking for candidates with senior charity experience including expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Charity governance
  • Law
  • Marketing
  • Grant making
  • Public facing projects

While some knowledge of television is useful, experience in the screen sector is not deemed essential for this appointment round as the industry is well represented among current trustees.

The role is unpaid and voluntary. Meetings take place in London throughout the year and ideally trustees will be available to attend the Festival in Edinburgh in August.

To be considered for the role please send your CV to recruitment@thetvfestival.com

The TV Foundation is registered as the Edinburgh Television Festival Council (SCO charity number SCO30821).
