Festival Stewarding
If you’re interested in pursuing a career in events, stewarding at the Edinburgh TV Festival is a great way to get hands on experience working at a fast-paced, international, high-profile event. By assisting with a variety of events, live content, and activities that take place throughout the week, the Festival is an exciting introduction to the world of large-scale media events.
About the Role
The Festival relies on the commitment and energy of its Stewards – they are vital to the smooth running of the event. The role is varied, hard work, but also lots of fun. Steward roles have included manning registration desks, working in the Festival office and even guarding the Traitor’s Cloaks!
Stewarding roles represent an excellent opportunity to gain further insight into the organisation and management of a large international event, as well as the smaller scale panels, screenings, sessions, and parties that come together to create the Festival. Stewarding at the festival also provides insight into the TV industry, networking opportunities, and a chance to learn new skills.
Steward duties include:
- Putting together all delegate bags
- Organising and distributing delegate passes and sorting print and prop-buying for sessions
- Assisting with stage management and production
- Liaising with the venue manager to make sure all sessions run on time with the correct literature and props
- Meeting delegates, seating them for sessions and checking passes
- Meeting and greeting speakers and moving them from the green room to the stage
- Festival and press office duties as well as on the ground support for networking events and parties
Benefits
As we are a charitable organisation, these are volunteer posts. However, we will provide per diems and – if travelling from outside Edinburgh – accommodation and travel. August is obviously a great time to be in Edinburgh, and you will have some time free in the evenings to soak up the atmosphere of the Fringe and other festivals taking place in the city.
You also get access to the UK’s most prestigious media event and a working environment with colleagues who are in the Events and TV industries, as well as being able to attend sessions, parties, and events at the Festival.
How To Apply
If you feel you have the necessary skills to be a pro-active and hardworking member of the team, and you are available to be in Edinburgh from 18 –22 August inclusive, we would love to hear from you.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted April/May for an online interview, with successful candidates notified in June.
Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications expected, we will only be able to notify successful candidates, and will not be able to provide feedback on applications.
