Trainee Camera Operator
The Festival is looking for a number of Trainee Camera Operators to assist in the smooth running of the event.
Trainee Camera Operator roles represent an excellent opportunity to gain further insight into the organisation and management of a large international event, as well as the smaller scale panels, screenings, sessions, and creating on demand content.
About the Role
Please note that Our Camera Operator experience is primarily a training opportunity and is aimed at those in education or at the start of their careers to hone their skills in a live environment where they can learn about the industry and make valuable connections. While we welcome applications from more experienced people who would find Festival attendance beneficial, please note this is not the main purpose of this initiative.
The role will also provide on the job training, insight into the TV industry, networking opportunities, and a chance to learn new skills.

- Assisting the filming of sessions and Festival events.
- Knowledge or experience using single operator cameras such as a Sony PMW300 with 17x lenses or Sony PMW500 with HJ22 lenses.
- Knowledge or experience of being part of a multi-camera setup outside broadcast.
- Liaising with stage management and production.
Benefits
As we are a charitable organisation, these are trainee posts. However, we will provide a day rate.
August is obviously a great time to be in Edinburgh, and you will likely have some time free in the evenings to soak up the atmosphere of the Fringe and other festivals taking place in the city.
You also get access to the UK’s most prestigious media event and a working environment with colleagues who are in the Events and TV industries, as well as being able to attend sessions, parties, and events at the Festival.
How To Apply
If you feel you have the necessary skills to be a pro-active and hardworking member of the team, and you are available to be in Edinburgh from 21 –25 August inclusive, we would love to hear from you.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted July for an online interview, with successful candidates notified in early August.
Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications expected, we will only be able to notify successful candidates, and will not be able to provide feedback on applications.
