Rick Kalowski has been Head of Comedy at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) since late 2013, and is responsible for overseeing development and production of all adult fully scripted comedy for ABC TV’s main channel, the ABC COMEDY channel, ABC’s FVOD streaming service iview and for ABC comedy podcasts (in collaboration with ABC Audio Studios). Rick has to date overseen over 50 TV and webseries of multi local and international award-winning, internationally broadcast comedy – over 150 hours and 300 episodes.

Comedy series made under Rick at ABC include the shortly releasing Frayed (with Sky (UK), from Merman Television), current Netflix co-production The Letdown, Rosehaven (with Sundance TV (US)), Utopia (airing internationally as ‘Dreamland’), International Emmy-nominated Please Like Me (with Participant Media (US), Ronny Chieng: International Student (with Comedy Central (US)), Superwog (with YouTube), The Moodys, Squinters and recent internationally acclaimed digital short series Wrong Kind of Black (Best International Web Fiction Series, Banff TV Festival) and Sarah’s Channel (starring Claudia O’Doherty).

An award winning comedy writer/producer prior to joining ABC, Rick has frequently been named among The Sydney Morning Herald’s ‘Most Influential People in Australian Television’.
