Mansi Darbar is the head of Acquisitions & Operations at Applause Entertainment, India’s first Content & IP Creation Studio.

Led by Mr. Sameer Nair, Applause Entertainment is a venture of the Aditya Birla Group – a US$ 43 billion Indian multinational conglomerate.

Determined and passionate, Ms. Darbar has been in the media and entertainment industry in India for over ten years.

Mansi honed her craft mostly across non-fiction shows in Big Synergy, one of India’s biggest production houses, as an Associate Creative Director. Some of her biggest shows include Kaun Banega Crorepati (India’s adaptation of Who wants to Be a Millionaire?) and Dus Ka Dum (India’s adaptation of Power of 10).

As someone who constantly challenges herself, she plunged head-first into the fledgling OTT space in India, and was a core founding member of ALT Balaji, a pioneer in the media vertical.

Now she heads Content Business Operations at Applause, and seamlessly juggles several portfolios – Acquisitions, Legal, Operations & Talent.

Mansi and her colleagues at Applause look to bring fresh content to global eyes, be it Indian originals or adaptations of worldwide properties.

Mansi has led the charge bringing in several shows for adaptation – the successful release of Criminal Justice (adapting the hit BBC show), Hostages (adapting the hit Israeli show) and Mind the Malhotras (an adaptation of the Israeli series La Famiglia) all stand testament to this.

In addition, Applause has adaptations of the wildly successful  the Israeli show Your Honor, the BBC show Luther and A+E Networks Unreal in the pipeline.

For Mansi, “content is king, and distribution is God”.
