Ed Guiney co-founded award-winning international production company Element Pictures with Andrew Lowe in 2001. With offices in Dublin, London and Belfast, Element’s activities encompass production, distribution and exhibition. As joint Company Director of Element Pictures Ed oversees the development of the company’s film and television slate, and executive produces, or oversees the production, of all green-lit projects.

Recent productions include Yorgos Lanthimos’ Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA-winning The Favourite and Lenny Abrahamson’s Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA-winning Room.

Previous productions include all of Lenny Abrahamson’s films (Adam & Paul, Garage, What Richard Did, Frank, Room) most recently The Little Stranger, and Yorgos Lanthimos’s English language films The Lobster (Academy Award nominated and winner of the Jury Prize in Cannes, 2015) and The Killing of A Sacred Deer, as well as Sebastián Lelio’s Disobedience.

Current film productions include Sean Durkin’s The Nest starring Jude Law and Carrie Coon, Phyllida Lloyd’s Herself and Joanna Hogg’s The Souvenir: Part 2 staring Tilda Swinton, Honor Swinton Byrne and Joe Alwyn. Current TV productions include The Dublin Murders, an 8-part series for BBC and Starz, and the smash hit series Normal People, a 12 x 30-minute series for BBC and Hulu, based on Sally Rooney’s acclaimed novel; directed by Lenny Abrahamson and Hettie McDonald and adapted by Sally Rooney and Alice Birch.

Element Pictures has announced a second collaboration with Sally Rooney, to adapt her hit novel Conversations With Friends for the BBC, with Guiney executive producing.

Ed Guiney has been nominated for two Academy Awards (The Favourite and Room) and has won two BAFTAs (The Favourite and Omagh). He was also awarded the Prix Eurimages at the European Film Awards in 2014.
