BBC One’s heart-warming hit, The Repair Shop, will be opening its barn doors for a special session launching this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival, it was announced today (Friday, 20th May 2022).
Producers, Ricochet, will create a 45-minute TV Festival special with Jay Blades & some of the experts of the popular hit show, to mark its fifth anniversary.
With over 300 episodes broadcast, the format has transformed from a modest daytime programme to a treasured fixture on primetime BBC One. With Comic Relief and Children in Need specials, four Christmas Specials and a Jubilee Celebration, the joy the fixes bring continues to enthral viewers.
The session will be produced by Ricochet and The Repair Shop team and feature the restoration of some unique items and also show some behind–the–scenes secrets behind production.
“We are beyond thrilled to have The Repair Shop as the opening entertainment session at this year’s festival. I love the format and, as we return to an in-person festival, this is the perfect opening entertainment piece.”
Stewart Clarke, Creative Director, Edinburgh TV Festival
“I am so proud of The Repair Shop and the incredible team, both on and off screen, that lovingly craft the programme. We are looking forward to fixing some items for some TV legends and bringing the magic of the barn to the TV Festival.”
Joanna Ball, Managing Director of Ricochet
“There is a magical quality to The Repair Shop. Its heady mix of warmth and escapism combined with expert craftsmanship has been a huge hit for BBC One and we are so proud we can extend that magic to the TV Festival.”

The Repair Shop is produced by Ricochet and first aired on BBC Two early evening in March 2017, eventually moving across to BBC One for Daytime. The current primetime series of The Repair Shop is transmitting Wednesdays at 8pm.
