TIME FOR ACTION
TUESDAY 4 AUGUST| 11.00-11.45 | STREAMED LIVE
The Edinburgh TV Festival will be home to a set of three roundtables giving freelancers a voice with the emphasis on immediate action and a cultural reset. Hosted by Adeel Amini of The TV Mindset, the first of these will take place on 4 August @ 11am and will allow freelancers to examine solutions with indies, ready to be taken to a second session with broadcasters on 6 August @ 11am. Both sessions will build to a centrepiece session at the Festival itself, taking the issues to the very top of the chain in the hope of establishing a happier, healthier, and fairer industry for all.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the TV industry to its knees and underlined the severe mental health crisis its freelance workforce is experiencing. Over the past four months, The TV Mindset has been an integral part of sharing unheard experiences and addressing different aspects of an unregulated industry but it is still unclear if or how anything will change. These three sessions will bring together all parts of these discussions and the industry to determine the next vital step: ACTION.
