The Comedy Showcase Line-Up Announced

The TV Foundation, Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society and Universal Studio Group announce the 10 new comedy creators for this first-of-its-kind partnership between the two Festivals

The TV Foundation, Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society and Universal Studio Group (USG) today revealed the names of the six new stand-up comedians and four scripted comedy creators – selected from 300 upcoming Fringe performers – who will form the inaugural cohort of the ground-breaking programme of comedy showcases set to take place on the 21 and 22 August as part of the 49^th annual Edinburgh TV Festival.

This is the first time that the two Festivals will join forces and, with the backing of USG, will provide a pioneering new platform to amplify the voices of emerging talent, connect them with global industry executives, and provide invaluable exposure at one of the largest TV Festivals in the world.

The four solo performers selected will perform excerpts of their Edinburgh Fringe shows at the TV Festival and get live feedback from Jim Donnelly, EVP of Comedy Development at Universal Television, Charlie Perkins, Head of Comedy at Channel 4 and Jon Petrie, Comedy Commissioning Director at BBC.

The Comedy Showcase sessions are being produced by Charlie Coombes, Executive Producer, Emanata Studios and Maiya Sabapathy-Andrews, Comedy Showcase Producer, The TV Foundation.
