TV PhD 2023

Ruby is a philosophy PhD candidate at Leeds University, funded by The White Rose College of Arts and Humanities (WRoCAH). She researches the ethics of social robotics, examining the extent to which the artificial friend is welcome in the good human life. More broadly, Ruby is passionate about translating research about contemporary philosophical issues into accessible, informative and exciting formats – disseminating rich ideas to encourage the public to grapple with their assumptions, re-visit familiar topics with new eyes, and to spark vibrant debates. Outside of university, Ruby loves to hike, run and ski, and she is currently learning to play the saxophone.
