Rachel Mars

New Writers Collective 2025

Rachel Mars is an award-winning stage/screen writer and performer based in London.
The only gay in a British Jewish family, she has been obsessed with the boundaries of comedy since owning her first joke book, and now writes stories that teeter on the knife edge of hilarity and heartbreak.
For stage, her work has been at the Barbican, Soho Theatre and The Public Theater NYC. BLOOD PLAY was recently shortlisted for the Women’s Playwriting Prize and developed at the O’Neill Theater Center National Playwrights’ Conference. Her shows interrogating sex and writing, envy and female aggression have toured Europe, the US and Australia.
She moved to screenwriting in 2021 when she was part of the first cohort of The Writers Lab UK and Ireland program. She was on the Royal Court Theatre x Sister Pictures Development scheme, and a Finalist on 4Stories in 2022.
She is excited to work on her series ‘EUGENE’ as part of the collective; an untold true story of renegade and revolutionary women.
