Olivia Ababio

Olivia Ababio is a 27-year-old writer and junior script editor from South London. Olivia always wanted to be a Disney child star but after aging out of that dream at the ripe old age of 10 and realising she liked acting but loved the power (and control) of telling stories she turned her focus towards writing. Olivia graduated in Film Studies at the University of Kent, during which time she studied Writing for Television at New Mexico State University.

Olivia is currently writing her first play OVEN KNOBS AND OTHER CONCERNS as part of the Soho Theatre Writers Lab; and was selected for All3Media’s New Writers Collective for her comedy-thriller pilot WHAT ARE WE. Her work pulls from the different facets of her identity as a slightly awkward, working-class, Black woman – her uncomfortable truths, contradictions, and experiences to create contemporary worlds that are as entertaining as they are thought-provoking.

Olivia also works as a junior script editor on an upcoming production by The Lighthouse Film and Television, whilst co-leading the development of another project in-house.
