Lydia Gilbert
New Writers Collective 2026

Born and raised in Hastings, East Sussex, Lydia was told by a friend’s mum at age eight that she was a drama queen. Determined to make this her entire personality, she threw herself into theatre. Her writing treads the line between drama and comedy, her ideas often a knee-jerk reaction to both modern and historical feminist issues explored through either a stageplay, screenplay or prose. She previously studied a Screenwriting MA at the University of Manchester, graduating in 2021. An extract of her debut play ALPHA was included in the As Yet Unscene showcase at King’s Head Theatre in 2025.
