Lare Oyefusi
New Writers Collective 2023

Lare is a British-Nigerian writer, actor, and creative producer, whose work seeks to showcase black, African diasporic, and unseen perspectives in mainstream audience-challenging narratives across genres. He was announced this year as an Edinburgh TV Festival New Voice Award winner, off the back of his pilot ST DIAMOND, and launched at the festival in August as part of the 2023 All3Media New Writers collective. This year, he has now been selected as one of twelve writers on Channel 4 Screenwriting 2024.
In theatre, Lare is one of the six writers on the Bush Theatre Emerging Writers Group for 2023/24, and one of the six Oxford Playhouse Playmakers for 2024. He is currently developing new work with both theatres. His debut play, GLORY HELLFIRE was written on Soho Theatre Writer’s lab.
As a script editor & producer Lare currently works in development at Greenacre Films. Prior to that he worked at Disney+ where he focussed on subscriber growth strategy & content analysis, before completing a secondment into the UK/European originals commissioning team. He started out in the industry as a strategy consultant completing projects for UK and European broadcasters and has also worked for many years as a freelance script reader and script editor. He studied a BA at Cambridge University before completing diplomas in Creative Writing for performance (Cambridge) and Acting (Central School of Speech and Drama).
