TV PhD 2023

Eleanor Cook is an AHRC Midlands4Cities collaborative doctoral student at Coventry University and The Herbert Museum & Art Gallery. Her research investigates the social, cultural, and political forces that shaped ideas of home in post-war Coventry via the analysis of visual culture.

Her work on Coventry exemplifies a broader fascination with the nexus between home, power, and identity, and how this is articulated in relation to the visual. She is interested in the potential of TV to expand definitions of culture to encompass the inclusion and representation of diverse communities, democratising access to and facilitating engagement with the arts.
