TV PhD 2023

Alex Watson Jones is a collaborative doctoral student at the University of St Andrews and National Museums Scotland. Her research explores how material culture has been brought from Ethiopia to Britain over the course of two centuries, examining topics such as military looting, colonialism, and diplomatic gifts from Ethiopian emperors. Alex previously worked at the V&A where she curated a high-profile display of the museum’s Ethiopian collections in 2018, and worked behind the scenes on the first series of the BBC Two documentary ‘Secrets of the Museum’. She is excited to explore further opportunities to work with the TV industry and to present her research to new audiences.
