Sean Kinnear is a second year PhD student in Architecture at The Glasgow School of Art. His research is focussed on investigating Cold War nuclear bunkers remaining within the Scottish landscape by tracing the historical origins and typological evolution of these mysterious buildings, in the wider social and political context. His active on-going bunker fieldwork has taken him from Cambridge to Gairloch in the Scottish Highlands.
Prior to commencing his PhD, Sean completed his training to become a fully qualified architect and has had writing featured in publications such as Urban Realm, the RIBA Journal and ICON magazine. After conducting freelance architectural research and location scouting for factual drama and documentaries, Sean is committed to continuing this work and develop key industry skills; crucial for facilitating the storytelling of Cold War nuclear bunkers through TV.
Sean is funded by the SGSAH AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership.
