Lisa is an accidental historian. She is driven by stories: who tells them, how, and about whom? Her PhD focuses on women who have rowed for Great Britain from the 1950s to present, and uses oral history to air and amplify their voices. It is a project that both is and is not about rowing; it is, wholeheartedly, a project about women.
She comes to the Edinburgh TV Festival with no background in the industry, although previous work experience as an account manager in PR and communications gave her some exposure to the nuts and bolts of broadcast journalism and the wider media landscape. She is passionate about writing and telling the stories she encounters, and centring individual human voices in history.
