Cathy Heffernan

Producer Director, Freelance

Cathy Heffernan is a factual TV and documentary PD who thrives on collaboration and problem-solving.
She had her first taste of TV working as a researcher on a magazine programme in Dublin. After a detour into print journalism, she took part in the Channel 4 Investigative Journalism Scheme and worked at Blakeway Productions on Dispatches. She has worked across several documentaries in BSL – most recently, Summer in Lockdown, which explored deaf people’s experiences of the pandemic. She is working with Slick Films on a project that showcases diversity in filmmaking.

Cathy loves sea swimming and is a Deafinitely Theatre trustee.

She wants to make compelling feature-length documentaries that incorporate interesting contributors, strong storytelling and that challenge preconceptions – and win an award or two!

“Cathy is a talented, creative individual with a great ability to see a project through from concept to delivery. She’s a joy to work with!” Rachel Drummond-Hay, Managing Director, Drummer Television
