Cathy Heffernan is a factual TV and documentary PD who thrives on collaboration and problem-solving.
She had her first taste of TV working as a researcher on a magazine programme in Dublin. After a detour into print journalism, she took part in the Channel 4 Investigative Journalism Scheme and worked at Blakeway Productions on Dispatches. She has worked across several documentaries in BSL – most recently, Summer in Lockdown, which explored deaf people’s experiences of the pandemic. She is working with Slick Films on a project that showcases diversity in filmmaking.
Cathy loves sea swimming and is a Deafinitely Theatre trustee.
She wants to make compelling feature-length documentaries that incorporate interesting contributors, strong storytelling and that challenge preconceptions – and win an award or two!
