ScreenSkills, formerly known as Creative Skillset, is the industry-led skills body for the UK’s screen industries – animation, film, games, television including children’s TV and high-end drama, VFX and immersive technology. We work across the whole of the country to ensure that UK screen has access now, and in the future, to the skills and talent needed for continued success.

The High-end TV Skills Fund was established in 2013 by industry as part of negotiations that secured the introduction of tax relief for high-end television productions. The aim was to create a sustainable fund to support the skills development of current and future generations of high-end TV talent and crew.

Around 500 productions have paid into the skills fund to date, including The Crown, Chernobyl, Peaky Blinders, Outlander, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Bodyguard and Killing Eve. The five major UK broadcasters support the skills fund on both in-house and commissioned productions, along with US companies such as Netflix, Fox and HBO.

The High-end TV Skills Fund, managed by ScreenSkills, supports both training for new entrants and career development for those already working in high-end TV. Contributing productions also get access to high-end TV programmes such as Trainee Finder and Make a Move.
