Unauthorised Events Policy & Guidance
At its heart, the TV Festival exists to bring people together to share ideas, celebrate achievements, and generally have a good time with friends and colleagues, old and new.
The Festival experience has always been more than the talks and sessions in the EICC, and wouldn’t be complete without the many drinks receptions, events and lively parties that go on into the wee hours.
The Festival team collaborate with our partners and work hard to make these events special, fun and safe for all our delegates.
Unauthorised Events
Official events: these events are run by the TV Festival, often in partnership with sponsors and open to all delegates. These events are featured in the programme online and in print
Authorised events: these events have been approved by the Festival but are run by partners, who may run an invite-only policy for which they are solely responsible
Internal events: these events are staged by partners for their staff, or a majority staff guestlist
If you are invited to an event in Edinburgh from 22 – 25 August that is not official, authorised, or internal please consider the detrimental effect it has on the TV Festival. We are owned by a not-for-profit charity and every penny the Festival makes goes towards supporting our educational programmes, funded places and keeping the cost of all Festival passes subsidised.
Unofficial events, particularly those scheduled against existing events, will negatively impact future pass costs and our ability to keep the Festival as accessible as possible.
Additionally, any use of the name of the Edinburgh TV Festival by an unofficial event is an infringement of copyright and will be treated as such.
If you are unsure of the status of an event you have planned or been invited to, please contact us for clarification.
Thank you for your support.
Please note The TV Festival is not responsible for and our policies do not extend to externally run authorised and/or internal events.
