Lucy Provan

Freelance filmmaker / journalist, Freelance

Lucy graduated with a degree in French and Arabic. In 2011, she started working at a Libyan Gaddafi government-run investment fund. This unorthodox career choice did not last past the particularly eventful spring of that year.

Since then, Lucy worked as a journalist, filmmaker and long term election observer across the Middle East. She taught herself to shoot and edit in a trilingual Paris newsroom. She was an AP and producer on BBC investigative documentaries and directed a 25 minute 2017 Al Jazeera Witness in Sudan. Lucy is a One World Media and International Women's Media Fund Grantee.

Lucy's goal is to direct international docs that are ambitious, creative, fun, and nuanced. To engage new audiences and challenge mindsets, while actively opening up the industry to others.
