Abby C. Kumar

Development Producer, Freelance

Much to the dismay of her Australian uncle, after completing a seemingly sensible degree in technology and business, Abby decided to pursue a career in television.

With a keen eye for pacing, originality and all things funny, she’s found success developing everything from entertainment formats to scripted comedy - most notably producing and editing BBC2 short-form series ‘The Archiveologists’. Never shying away from trying something different, Abby has also produced Radio 4Xtra’s Newsjack and multiple podcasts.

In her spare time Abby cycles, paints, plays football for Legends FC, and co-founded the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) TV Task Force.

Abby aims to be the controller of a technologically innovative, visually distinct broadcaster/SVOD - before retiring to build an eco-resort in her ancestral hometown of Jaffna.

"Abby is smart, funny and fearless. Already possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of the entire TV format history, she’s got opinions and will make a difference." Colette Foster, Managing Director, Full Fat Television
