Tom McDonald is the head of Natural History and Specialist Factual commissioning at the BBC.

Recent commissioning highlights from the department include the BAFTA winners Planet Earth II and Muslims Like Us; the BAFTA nominated Doctor Who Gave Up Drugs as well as ratings hits including Amazing Hotels, Fifteen Billion Pound Railway, Spy In The Wild, The Day The Dinosaurs Died and Inside The Factory.

As well as overseeing hundreds of new titles each year, Tom and his team oversee some of the BBC’s biggest returning factual shows including Trust Me, The Watches and Stargazing Live.
