Caroline Beaton is Senior Vice President, International Programme Sales, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN).   In this position, Beaton is tasked with aligning the strategic direction of the Programme & Format Sales division internationally and working across all VIMN brands, platforms and businesses to drive programme sales and distribution worldwide, as well as overseeing the expansion of VIMN’s extensive format library.  She has successfully spearheaded the international roll-out of Comedy Central’s South Park, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob and Spike’s Lip Sync Battle, among many other global hit shows. Based in London, Beaton reports to David Lynn, Managing Director & EVP International Content Distribution, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN).

As Senior Vice President, Beaton is responsible for international programme distribution activities for MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET, CMT, TV Land and Spike, and is charged with pursuing co-production financing opportunities in partnership with IPS across VIMN’s core competency areas of kids, music and young people, for sale to third parties.  Beaton also holds a seat on the VIMN Programming Council where her expertise is exploited in assessing all potential programming from a channel and distribution perspective.  In addition, regional sales team heads based in Asia Pacific, Europe, Japan and Latin America report directly to Beaton and her responsibilities include SVOD and digital exploitation, as well as linear broadcast and production deals.  

Beaton first joined MTV Networks International in 1996, leaving in 2000 to take up the position of Director of International and New Business at Carlton Television’s format production company, Action Time, based in the UK.  On leaving the post of Managing Director at Action Time in 2004, during which time she sat on the Carlton Television Production Board, Beaton founded Road Trip Media.  During this time, Beaton worked with TV producers, distributors, broadcasters and other media organisations providing strategic and commercial advice to independent TV producers and rights owners, gave input into programme development and consulted on a range of issues including formats, event design and delivery, start-ups, developing communication and improving commercial impact.  As a fully qualified and accredited coach and mentor, Beaton also continues to run a successful executive coaching and training practise.  

With a Masters in Neuro Linguistic Programming, she is expert in communication, in all its many forms. Beaton has produced and hosted many prestigious international events, including the acclaimed Pact RightsLab and C21 FutureMedia. She is a sought-after public speaker and panellist and a highly-skilled and experienced presenter and trainer. She is also an established stand-up comedian with a following in the UK and the US. Beaton holds a BA honours degree in English and Drama from Goldsmith’s College, University of London and currently lives in London with her children
