Award-winning comedian Alex Horne is the creator and co-host of the Dave TV show Taskmaster – “funny, revealing, and glorious” (The Times) – which returns for its fifth series in 2017 and was nominated for the Virgin TV BAFTA Awards’ Best Comedy & Comedy Entertainment Programme in 2017, Royal Television Society Awards’ Best Entertainment Programme in 2017, and the Broadcast Awards’ Best Entertainment Show in 2016. The show has been commissioned for a series by Comedy Central in the USA with Reggie Watts hosting alongside Alex.
Alex is also known for hosting iTunes chart-topping and Chortle Award-nominated podcast Alex Horne Breaks the News (Dave). He is the creator and frontman of The Horne Section, a five-piece band of multitalented musicians who put a stupidly unique twist to musical comedy. Their show Alex Horne Presents: The Horne Section played to sold-out audiences for five consecutive years at the Edinburgh Fringe, which led them to continue it for three series as a BBC Radio 4 show. The band has made several appearances on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4) and is the only band ever to host Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC2). They made their own Christmas mini-special for Sky Arts in 2015 titled A Horne Section Christmas.
Alex is an Edinburgh Fringe veteran, taking nine solo shows to the festival. He earned a Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination in 2014 for his solo show Monsieur Butterfly, and a Perrier Newcomer Award nomination for his first show Making Fish Laugh in 2003. He has released two books with Virgin Publishing based on his critically-acclaimed Edinburgh shows Birdwatchingwatching in 2009 and Wordwatching in 2010.
