Criminal barrister Robert Rinder, best known for his popular ITV daytime show Judge Rinder is to be the arbitrator of TV industry battles at this year’s Edinburgh International Television Festival, it was announced today.
No stranger to conflict, ITV’s Judge Rinder will preside over a session which pits leading figures against each other to debate some of TV’s hottest topics. Rinder will have his gavel at the ready to rule over such issues as: ‘commissioners don’t listen to talent when it comes to programming’; and ‘TV execs are out of touch with viewers in post-Brexit Britain’.
Judge Rinder said: “I’m looking forward to joining what is already looking to be a great line-up at this year’s Festival. For the first time in the TV Festival’s history I will be putting TV on trial, so be prepared for conflict, back-tracking, and lots of cross-examination, as I preside over the debate and decide the outcome. Who will be guilty and who will be innocent? Come join the session to find out.”
Lisa Campbell, Festival Director, said: “Aside from captivating us with his fancy footwork on Strictly Come Dancing, Judge Rinder has had us all hooked with his smart way with words, and penchant for justice. He brings this with him to this year’s Festival as we delve into our industry’s most pressing matters. This session will have you on the edge of your seat!”
