The Edinburgh International TV Festival brought to you by YouTube and BT, has announced an exclusive Black Mirror masterclass with creator and writer Charlie Brooker and executive producer Annabel Jones.
Black Mirror is an award winning anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world. The House of Tomorrow drama originally launched on Channel 4 to widespread critical acclaim and following the hugely publicised move to Netflix last year, catapulted Brooker, Jones and their dystopian tales from the dark side into the global market.
Exploring contemporary themes of techno paranoia and the horrors of the smartphone era, delegates will hear from creator and writer Charlie Brooker, and executive producer Annabel Jones as they delve into the Black Mirror archives and discuss the origination and continued inspiration behind their satirical, often uncomfortably prophetic televisual phenomenon.
Charlie Brooker said: “We’re looking forward to testing everyone’s patience with our mindless wittering.”
Annabel Jones said: “We’re flattered and relieved to be asked to share the misery and despair that is making Black Mirror.”
Diederick Santer, Advisory Chair said: “This session promises to be one of the highlights of the festival. Charlie and Annabel are a formidable partnership and I can’t wait to learn how they work together to create such astonishing TV.”
