Two heavyweights of comedy from both on and off screen will go head-to-head in a scintillating conversation on the famously tough genre. Award-winning comedian, writer and television host Jimmy Carr will chair Comedy Central president Kent Alterman’s Gamechanger session, it was announced today (THURS).
Alterman has helped launch the careers of Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, Key & Peele and Amy Schumer, and in this session will discuss his phenomenal career to date, and Comedy Central’s success making smart bets on creator-driven series and helping emerging stars break through to become the funniest and most influential voices of their generation.
Jimmy Carr is one of the biggest selling live acts in UK comedy. His latest live show, The Best Of, Ultimate, Gold, Greatest Hits Tour, will see him perform to half a million people worldwide and features dates at some of the most iconic venues in the UK as well as dates all over the globe in over 30 countries including Australia, USA, Canada, Sweden, Norway, South Africa and many more.
He is also currently co-hosting Comedy Central’s Your Face or Mine with Katherine Ryan as well as being the voice of Drunk History for the channel, adding to his extensive TV credits which include 20 series as host of 8 Out of 10 Cats, 10 series of its spin-off 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and over 10 years as host of Channel 4’s Big Fat Quiz of the Year. Jimmy has also performed three times on The Royal Variety Performance and has regularly appeared on other top shows such as QI andThe Graham Norton Show. In addition, he recently hosted a Horizon special on the science of laughter for BBC2.
He was also the first UK comedian to sign a stand-up special deal with Netflix.
