30 Ones to Watch places are awarded to the rising stars of the TV Industry, giving them access to four days of inspiring sessions, creative debate, and unrivalled networking opportunities. After the TV festival the Ones to Watch benefit from continuing support and mentoring from senior executives.

2014’s Ones to Watch mentors include: Adam MacDonald, Head of Sky 1; Gary Reich, Managing Director, Brown Eyed Boy; Surian Fletcher-Jones, Head of Development, Drama, Channel 4; Claire Zolkwer, Commissioning Editor, Comedy and Entertainment, ITV, and Kate Collier, Director of Development, The Garden. They also enjoy a curated alumni events programme year-round, including a recent reunion celebrating the scheme’s 25th anniversary held at Google HQ.

From this year’s final 30 Ones to Watch, a third are from BAME backgrounds, testament to the quality of diverse talent emerging in the industry.

All applications are scrutinised by the Ones to Watch committee and members of the TV Festival team. The final selection is made by interview with senior industry executives.

Tamara Howe, Talent Schemes Chair, said: “Celebrating talent, both on and off screen is at the heart of the TV Festival’s 40th Anniversary year, and what better a way to start the celebrations than by revealing this year’s OTW list – and what an impressive list it is. Yet again we welcome an exceptionally talented and inspiring group of people through our doors. It’s an outstanding group that will be further boosted by our scheme: the mentoring support, the insights and the unparalleled access to an industry- wide network. Watch out for them!”

Campbell Glennie, Talent Schemes Director, said: “A place on Ones to Watch is a life-changing, money-can’t-buy opportunity. I know all of our delegates this year will fully embrace this prospect as it marks the next chapter of their careers. The future of TV is in exciting hands.”

In addition, the 30 Ones to Watch will all have the chance to pitch for a funded commission from Channel 4’s Random Acts strand, with eight finalists selected to pitch live to John Hay at the festival for the coveted opportunity.
